ANOTHER GREAT 1966 NHS REUNION!!!!
The 44th reunion of the great NHS Class of 1966 began on Friday night, June 11th, 2010 at 6:30 at The Oaks in Fort Smith. There were 44 present and we had a wonderful time reminiscing and reliving the “Good Ole Days”. Oh, the stories that were told!!! Some were fascinating and some were so crazy that we’re still laughing! Two of our teachers graciously came and spent some time with us both nights: Ms. Crossland and Mr. Shaver. We really enjoyed seeing both of them. Some class members from the 1967 NHS class also attended both nights.
On Saturday morning, the brunch and the golf scramble were well attended and enjoyed by all.
Saturday night, June 12th, we had 69 present. We began with a “Welcome” from our emcee, Beverly Stubblefield Loos, and an invocation from Gary Newton. We then had our wonderful meal before the program began. A visual program in memoriam to all our classmates who have died was presented. It was quite moving to see their young vibrant high school pictures and remember them as they were. A special presentation in the form of a plaque was given to Judy and Gary Newton for loyal and enduring service as treasurers for our class. We were then treated to a skit (Johnny Carson spoof of Sgt Friday and the Clapper Caper). It was a hoot! There were also pictures of our high school days and some of our teachers, as well as, pictures from our last reunion (the 40th). Then the great DJ got the music and the lights rolling and everyone had a blast! The karaoke was “over the top” as many joined with their old classmates singing those great old hits of the 60’s! Everyone seemed to have a fabulous time and it was hard to say good-bye again.
We truly hope we can have another reunion before too long. We were planning to wait 6 years to get back on track, but some have suggested we have another one in 3 years (2013) and then another one 3 years later (2016). We plan to set up a poll so you can vote on which one you prefer.
If you were not able to come this time, we would like to issue you a special invitation to the next one. We missed you, and we would really like to see you. No matter what the years have brought to us, we all still share those special high school days that will live on forever in our thoughts and minds—some good, maybe some not so good, but nevertheless, we are all one special group that shares some precious memories. May the Lord richly bless you, and may we all get together soon. We look forward to seeing you!!
